Staff picks: Stroud is impressive, but who's gonna protect him? taken on the South Side (Steelers)

HOUSTON TEXANS

Each week, our football staff at DK Pittsburgh Sports predicts the Steelers' result, along with sharing a few related thoughts.

For a full preview of the matchup with the Texans, check out my breakdown.

Chris Halicke (2-1): The Texans are scarier than you might think. They play fundamentally sound football. The defense doesn't allow opposing offenses to take the top off. C.J. Stroud looks mature well beyond his years, specifically with his anticipation and overall pocket presence. Tank Dell will test the defense vertically. If the Texans were at or even near full strength, I'd be picking the Texans to win. But, the offensive line is beyond banged up. Their top three options at either tackle spot are out. That's a recipe for disaster against the likes of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. I think those two will wreak havoc and cause the Texans' offense fits. As for the Steelers' offense, I still need to see much more. But, they should be able to outscore a very, very banged up Texans team. Steelers, 20-17

Corey Crisan (2-1): The theme has settled in after three weeks. The Steelers will win football games as long as their defense gets them to that point. Prepare for feasts for Watt and Highsmith on Sunday with the Texans' starting tackles out of action. Steelers, 17-13

Matt Williamson (1-2): I've got the Steelers winning this game. I think they could start slow on their second straight road trip, but the Steelers' pass rush will rule the day and the offense should be able to move the ball consistently in the second half. Steelers, 20-10

Ramon Foster (2-1): When you have a team that has a rookie quarterback and missing offensive linemen, you must abuse him, unless you decide to slow this thing down. The fact that this team caught some momentum scoring offensively, and not defensively, you taste that in the water. You enjoy that. Steelers, 27-10
