Pitt men's basketball forward William Jeffress will miss the next six weeks of training camp and the preseason after sustaining a left foot injury, the university announced on Tuesday.

"Will suffered a foot injury last week and evaluations by our medical staff determined the need to shut him down for a few weeks," Pitt coach Jeff Capel said in a news release. "Will was having a strong fall and we are excited about his continued development. This injury is a minor setback, but we anticipate that he will make a full recovery and be ready to return to the court in October."

The 6-foot-7 Jeffress posted 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds while playing 20.7 minutes per game for the Panthers last season. His 30 offensive rebounds ranked third on the team.

Pitt opens with its first official practice on Sept. 26.
