The Penguins signed forward Avery Hayes to a two-year entry-level contract.
Hayes, 22, is on an AHL contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He will finish the season on his AHL contract, meaning he cannot be recalled to the NHL until his NHL contract begins next season.
Hayes is a second-year pro who was undrafted and signed by Wilkes-Barre in 2023 following the conclusion of his OHL career. He spent much of his rookie season injured. This year, finally healthy, he ranks fifth on Wilkes-Barre in scoring with 17 goals and 18 assists in 44 games.
