Minor-league report: Ashcraft solid in Class AAA debut taken in Downtown (Pirates)

A look at Thursday’s minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (27-37) won at Jacksonville, 4-1. Braxton Ashcraft allowed a run on three hits in six innings in his first start in Class AAA. He struck out four and did not issue a walk. He threw 72 pitches, 47 strikes.

Gilberto Celestino and Grant Koch hit solo home runs in the third inning, and Liover Peguero added a solo shot in the sixth.

Brent Honeywell allowed one hit and walked one in earning a two-out save.

ALTOONA (21-39) beat Erie, 2-0. Wyatt Hendrie had an RBI single in the second and Seth Beer had an RBI single in the third. 

Curve starter Drake Fellows allowed five hits and struck out four in five scoreless innings. Eddy Yean and Jack Carey each allowed a hit in two scoreless innings apiece.

GREENSBORO (34-25) won at Winston-Salem, 6-1. Nick Cimillo hit a three-run homer in the first inning. Lonnie White, Jr., hit a solo shot in the fourth. Josiah Sightler had an RBI single and Hudson Head scored on a double steal in the ninth.

The Grasshoppers' bullpen did not allow a hit in 3 2/3 innings.

BRADENTON (25-34) was suspended at Dunedin in the top of the sixth inning with no score on the board It will be resumed Friday at 4:45 p.m. Carlson Reed recorded eight strikeouts in five innings for Bradenton.
