Minor-league report: McAdoo stays hot, drives in five for Greensboro taken in Downtown (Pirates)

A look at Tuesday’s minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (26-36) lost at Jacksonville, 2-1. Liover Peguero's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning scored Indianapolis' run. The Jumbo Shrimp's Griffin Conine hit a solo home run in the second inning and Troy Johnston hit a solo homer in the eighth.

Josh Palacios went 2-for-4 in his return from a rehab assignment in Greensboro. The Indians had six hits, but none went for extra bases.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Indians announced Braxton Ashcraft is being promoted from Altoona to Indianapolis. The 2018 second-round pick went 2-2 with a 3.69 ERA in 11 games with the Curve. He will start for the Indians Thursday.

ALTOONA (20-38) lost to Erie, 11-2. Seth Beer hit a two-run home run in the first inning.

Thomas Harrington, the Pirates' No. 5 prospect on MLB Pipeline, allowed six runs, but only one was earned, on 10 hits including two home runs in five innings. Erie posted five runs in the fifth inning off of Harrington. Ben Malgeri hit a three-run homer in that inning.

Erie had 17 hits, while the Curve were limited to five. Jase Bowen had a double.

GREENSBORO (32-25) won at Winston-Salem, 11-5. Charles McAdoo hit his ninth homer of the season on the fifth pitch of the game. The two-run shot scored Termarr Johnson, who singled one pitch prior.

McAdoo also had a two-run single in the Grasshoppers' five-run second inning. McAdoo went 3-for-6 with five RBIs and two runs scored. The 22-year old is now batting .337 with nine homers, 44 RBIs and a .970 OPS while adding 11 stolen bases. He has hit safely in seven games in a row and in 11 of his last 12 games. Since May 28, McAdoo is batting .426 (20-for-47) with three homers and 11 RBIs.

Hudson Head hit an RBI double, and Mitch Jebb added his own double.

BRADENTON (25-32) was postponed at Dunedin because of wet field conditions. The teams will play a double header of seven-inning games beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
