RICHMOND, Va. -- Okay, sure, after last week's tale of Fred Carroll burying his deceased pet monkey beneath home plate, one might get the idea that we've changed the name of this feature to Carroll Canon... but in my research about the very beginnings of the Pittsburgh Baseball Club, I discovered that in becoming the first MLBer (and one of only 14 since) to hit for a natural cycle, the Alleghenys catcher had pulled off a feat as amazing in the team's second game as he did before it's first! It was simply too juicy an accomplishment not to share!
