After two seasons at Pitt, forward Nate Santos has entered the transfer portal and will seek to play his final two seasons of college basketball elsewhere.
Santos' playing time declined in part to the rise of Federiko Federiko, Guillermo and Jorge Diaz Graham, and Blake Hinson in the Panthers' frontcourt. Santos played in 29 of Pitt's 36 games in the Panthers' run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in the 2022-'23 season, but he saw a decline in total minutes from 319 (12.8 per game) in the 2021-'22 season as a true freshman to 214 (7.4 per game) this past season as a sophomore.
He played four minutes in Pitt's NCAA Tournament first-round game against Iowa State, but did not attempt a shot from the field. He did not play in the second round against Xavier.
The Geneva, Ill., native and former four-star recruit averaged 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game this past season with Pitt. Listed at 6-foot-7, Santos will surely have Power Six interest, after receiving offers out of high school from Creighton, Georgetown, Illinois, Ole Miss, TCU, Virginia Tech, and Xavier before committing to Pitt in April of 2021.
Santos is the seventh player to depart Pitt after the program's first NCAA Tournament run since 2016, including exiting seniors Nelly Cummings, Jamarius Burton, Greg Elliott, Nike Sibande, and Aidan Fisch and fellow transfer forward John Hugley IV, who is still visiting schools and remains uncommitted.
