DALLAS -- Tristan Jarry is injured. Again.
Jarry, who stopped 28 of 30 shots in the Penguins' 5-2 win over the Avalanche on Wednesday, won't dress for the Penguins' game here in Dallas on Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern. Mike Sullivan said in his pregame media availability that Jarry is dealing with a lower-body injury for which he is still being evaluated.
This is at least the fourth injury that Jarry has had this season, and the third that has actually pulled him out of the lineup. Jarry suffered a lower-body injury in the Jan. 2 Winter Classic that had him sidelined until Jan. 20. He played two games before suffering an upper-body injury that sidelined him until Feb. 20. While Jarry didn't have to miss any games in early to mid-November, he acknowledged that he was dealing with some physical limitations, and Casey DeSmith took a larger share of the starts as a result.
DeSmith will start in net Thursday as well.
The Penguins recalled goaltender Dustin Tokarski and forward Filip Hallander prior to the game on an emergency basis. As of Sullivan's pregame availability, both Tokarski and Hallander were still en route to Dallas and the Penguins were hopeful they would arrive by puck drop. If they aren't here in time, they're still able to get into the game when they arrive as long as they are listed on the Penguins' game lineup. Penguins emergency backup goaltender Mike Chiasson, who is on this road trip, would be able to dress in the meantime if needed.
Hallander's emergency recall is likely a result of Jason Zucker and Jake Guentzel both being felled by blocked shots early in Wednesday's game. Neither player left the game Wednesday, though they both went to the bench or to the locker room after taking a shot to the foot early in the game. Sullivan said that both Zucker and Guentzel would be game-time devisions for Thursday's game. If both players do miss Thursday's game, Alex Nylander would also get back into the lineup against the Stars.
