NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Penguins' 3-1 win over the Predators on Tuesday night started and ended the same way -- Tristan Jarry stoning one of the Predators top forwards in Mikael Granlund.
It didn't take long for Jarry to be tested in this one -- the Penguins gave up a breakaway to Granlund just 20 seconds into the game.
Granlund got past Brian Dumoulin and Kris Letang early, and a long pass from Roman Josi sprung him on a quick breakaway. Jarry made the initial save on Granlund, and then one more when Granlund recovered the rebound:
It was Nashville defenseman Mark Jankowski who capitalized off an egregious Letang turnover 47 minutes into the game to open the scoring. A goal three minutes later from Sidney Crosby tied the game, and Jason Zucker's tally with 1:39 left in regulation gave the Penguins their first lead of the night.
The Predators were pushing to tie the game late with the extra attacker when Jarry made a key sprawling save on Granlund to maintain the lead:
Jarry finished the night with 24 saves on 25 shots. He's played four games now since returning from his injury, and has looked strong in these last two games.
"It's tough whenever you get injured," Jarry said Tuesday. "There's nothing more that you want to do than to play and help the guys. I think that's all my expectations coming back -- I wanted to be a difference and I wanted to help as much as possible."
Jarry certainly made a difference in this game.
