BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Pirates announced Wednesday several upgrades coming to PNC Park this season, the most anticipated of which is a new scoreboard.
The new scoreboard will be 142-feet in width and 44 feet in height, 118% larger than the previous board. It also will have true HDR capability and a 10-millimeter pixel spacing display, resulting in more than 4K Pixels in width.
The only thing not changing with the new board will be the view of downtown Pittsburgh.
"We know from our many interactions with fans that the way in which they consume game action is ever-changing," Travis Williams said. "The new scoreboard, facia displays and sound system will allow our fans to be even more immersed in the action on and off the field. It is important that we continue to build upon and enhance everything that makes PNC Park a unique and special place. Last offseason, we successfully debuted the revamped River Walk. This season, we are excited to unveil additional fan-focused enhancements, beginning with the new sights and sounds our fans will experience.”
The project is being jointly funded by the Pirates and the Sports & Exhibition Authority.

Additional changes coming next year include a new speaker system throughout the seating bowls, fascia ribbon boards throughout the park and new home plate, field level and dugout LED displays.
