Duquesne put together one of its best games ever in the Atlantic 10 on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 26-point blowout on the road at George Washington.
The Dukes went on an unbelievable 28-0 run in the first half, led by 30 at the break and cruised to a 93-67 win. It was the largest margin of victory ever in an Atlantic 10 road game, with the Dukes joining the conference in 1977.
Duquesne led just 19-17 with 11:27 left in the first half, then scored the next 28 points and held GW scoreless for 10:09. The Dukes were up 50-20 at the half and led by as many as 37 in the second half.
Duquesne (15-8, 5-5) had been struggling coming in, losing three of its last four. But the Dukes shot the lights out Saturday to post the blowout win. They finished with 17 3-pointers, one shy of the school record, and made 17 of 32 from deep on the day (53 percent).
Dae Dae Grant led a balanced scoring attack for the Dukes with 18 points, scoring 11 during the incredible 28-0 run. Quincy McGriff had 17 points off the bench. Joe Reece added 13 and Tre Williams 12, while Tevin Brewer and Jimmy Clark III had nine apiece and R.J. Gunn eight. That's seven players with at least eight points.
McGriff hit 5 of 8 from 3-point territory, while Grant and Brewer each made 3 of 5.
Duquesne's previous record for margin of victory in an A10 road game was 24 against Fordham on Jan. 27, 2021.
This was the 499th career victory for Keith Dambrot. He can reach the 500 milestone in Duquesne's next game, which is Wednesday at home against George Mason. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
