Lions wrap up recruiting class with big 4-star O-line commit

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Today is the so-called traditional national signing day, but Penn State and most other programs did all their signing work in December during the early period.

Still, the Nittany Lions saved one big piece of the puzzle for this signing day, landing a big-time recruit Wednesday afternoon.

Chimdy Onoh, a 4-star offensive tackle from Dundalk High School in Maryland, signed with Penn State on Wednesday to round out the class of 2023.

Onoh (6-5, 270) is rated the No. 5 prospect in Maryland and the No. 20 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports. He's also a top 300 national prospect.

Onoh was a late bloomer who didn't have a lot of major offers a short while ago. But he came on late during the recruiting cycle and chose Penn State over the likes of Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers, Nebraska and Colorado.

With Onoh coming on board, Penn State's class includes four outstanding offensive line prospects.

The other three are 4-star tackle J'ven Williams and 4-star interior guys Alex Birchmeier and Anthony Donkoh.

Penn State's 2023 recruiting class ranks 14th in the nation, per 247Sports, and No. 2 in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State.
