Penguins forward FIlip Hallander was stretchered off the ice late in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's game against the Charlotte Checkers on Friday night following a scary hit.

The game was nearing the end of regulation when Hallander and a Checkers defenseman got tangled up in the corner. Both players were upended in the collision and Hallander's head and neck appeared to take much of the impact as he fell to the ice:

Drake Caggiula, Valtteri Puustinen and Jonathan Gruden immediately put their arms up to call for the medical staff when they saw Hallander down on the ice, as did some Checkers players. Players from both benches knelt on the ice as athletic trainers, doctors and emergency medical services came onto the ice and put Hallander on a stretcher, where he was then transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Officials made the decision to end the game with 1:12 remaining on the clock. Wilkes-Barre cancelled its media availability after the game due to Hallander's injury.

Wilkes-Barre released a statement on Saturday morning saying that Hallander was released from the hospital Friday night following testing and examination and is currently at home resting.
