The Pirates officially announced the signing of left-handed reliever Jarlín García Wednesday and designated right-hander Bryse Wilson for assignment to clear a spot on the 40 man roster.
García, recorded a 3.74 ERA, 56 strikeouts and a 1.20 WHIP over 65 innings for the Giants last season.
He is under contract for $2.5 million for 2023, and his deal with comes with a 2024 club option for $3.25 million. The deal was agreed upon in principle during the Winter Meetings earlier this month.
Wilson went 3-9 with a 5.52 ERA and -1.1 WAR in 2022, going from firmly in the middle of the Pirates' opening day rotation to bouncing between the majors and minors. It looked unlikely that he would reclaim a rotation spot after the Pirates added Vince Velasquez and Rich Hill to the rotation via free agency this month.
Wilson was acquired during the 2021 trade deadline from the Braves for Richard Rodriguez.
