Hoy Park.

The Pirates have traded Hoy Park, who they had previously designated for assignment, to the Red Sox Wednesday for minor-league left-hander Inmer Lobo.

Park, 26, was DFA'd by the Pirates Tuesday to make room for first baseman Lewin Díaz, who they claimed off waivers from the Marlins.

Park came over to the Pirates from the Yankees. as part of the Clay Holmes trade in 2021 and bounced between the majors and minors throughout his tenure with the club. He was the opening day second baseman and slashed .216/.276/.373 with two home runs and 6 RBIs over 60 major-league plate appearances this year.

Lobo, 18, signed with the Red Sox as an international free agent on June 1. He went 2-0 with an 0.82 ERA, 28 strikeouts and a .190 batting average allowed in five Dominican Summer League Starts this year, totaling 22 innings pitched.

Per a source, Lobo's fastball sat at 87 mph during the DSL season, mixing in a changeup and a low spin breaking ball too, averaging about 2,200 RPM. Of course at just 18, there's still plenty of time for him to develop.
