The Robo-Penguin jersey is finally back, and Jason Zucker busted out a classic Jaromir Jagr salute to celebrate his goal to open the scoring for the Penguins Wednesday night in Buffalo against the Sabres.
After the first period, Zucker told Dan Potash of AT&T Sportsnet that the ode to Jagr was an idea from Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel. He just happened to be the one who scored first, so he did it.
"Shoutout to Jagr and that whole team," he said.
On Thursday, Jagr tweeted out a video of himself rocking a classic white Robo-Penguin jersey in which he shared his love and appreciation for the honorary celebration.
"Hello, hockey fans," he said in the video. "What about the salute Jason Zucker did when he scored? I was reading some comments, some people like it, some people don't. I love it. And I feel like they show a lot of respect for our era, for our team because we also had a lot of great players. So thank you Penguins, thank you Jason. And by the way, Jason, keep working on your shot, because it wasn't hard enough."
