Damontae Kazee has been suspended for the next three games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to multiple reports.
Kazee is currently on the injured reserve list after sustaining a wrist injury in the Steelers' preseason finale against the Lions at Acrisure Stadium. He was not eligible to return from IR until the Steelers travel to Buffalo in Week 5. Now, the earliest he can return is Week 6 when Pittsburgh hosts Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
The 29-year-old defensive back joined the Steelers on a one-year, $1,187,500 contract in free agency this offseason after spending four seasons with the Falcons and one with the Cowboys. During training camp and the preseason, Kazee carved out a significant role in the defense -- one that would have him play deep next to Terrell Edmunds and free up Minkah Fitzpatrick to play more of a roaming third safety.
The Steelers have still deployed this look with Tre Norwood lined up in Kazee's spot. However, Kazee's absence has prevented them from running it as often as they might want to.
