The Steelers signed eight players to their initial practice squad for the 2022 season Wednesday, leaving them with eight more spots to fill.

All of the eight players signed Wednesday had been on the Steelers' roster in training camp. They include offensive linemen William Dunkle, Ryan McCollum and John Leglue, defensive tackle Carlos Davis, running back Anthony McFarland, linebacker Hamilcar Rashed, safety Elijah Riley and wide receiver Cody White.

Of those, Leglue is the player with the most starting experience with the Steelers.

The 26-year-old started the final five games of the regular season in 2021 at left guard, also starting in the Steelers' playoff loss at Kansas City due to injuries to Kevin Dotson, B.J. Finney and J.C. Hassenauer.

Riley, claimed off waivers from the Jets last week, started seven games for New York last season at strong safety.

McFarland, meanwhile, was a fourth-round draft pick of the Steelers in 2020.

The Steelers have eight more spots to fill on their practice squad, but are off until next week when they'll continue preparation for their Sept. 11 opener in Cincinnati.
