Penguins announce development camp roster, dates taken at PPG Paints Arena (Penguins)

PENGUINS

The Penguins' annual prospect development camp will be held July 10-14 at the Lemieux Complex in Cranberry, the Penguins announced on Tuesday.

The Penguins invited 24 prospects -- a mix of draft picks, free agent signings, AHL-contracted players and undrafted free agents -- to the five-day camp.

The five undrafted prospects the Penguins signed to entry-level contracts this spring -- forwards Corey Andonovski, Jordan Frasca and Ty Glover, defenseman Colin Swoyer, and goaltender Taylor Gauthier -- will all be in attendance. This will be the first camp for two of the Penguins' 2021 draft picks, forward Tristan Broz (2nd round) and defenseman Daniel Laatsch (7th round).

The two undrafted free agents attending camp are forward Max Sasson and defenseman Aidan Fulp, both out of Western Michigan University. Sasson, 21, is a 6-foot-1, 181-pound left-handed shot who scored nine goals and 13 assists in 37 games in his freshman season last year. Fulp, 22, is listed at 6 foot 3 and 209 pounds and is a right-handed shot. He scored two goals and 11 assists in 34 games last year, his sophomore season.

AHL-contracted invitees include defensemen Clay Hanus and Chris Ortiz, forwards Sam Houde and Brooklyn Kalmikov, and goaltender Tommy Nappier. You can read more about the AHL-contracted players in this story I did this month on the Penguins' AHL-contracted signings for next season.

The other three goaltenders attending camp are Taylor Gauthier and Filip Lindberg and 2020 second-round pick Joel Blomqvist. I spoke with Blomqvist last week, and he told me that he is completing his mandatory military service in Finland this summer, but was granted time off for camp.

The full roster can be found here.

With the draft being held in Montreal on July 7 and 8, it's likely that the Penguins will add to the development camp roster following the draft.
