Pitt football secured their first offensive line recruit for the class of 2023 earlier Sunday when tackle Colin Van Rooy selected the Panthers over offers from Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, and others. Van Rooy earned his offer earlier this month after attending one of PItt's prospect camps.
The 6'5, 300 pound Van Rooy, from Strongsville, OH was one of three commits out of this weekend's nine visitors and he becomes the first to publicly announce. Van Rooy was joined by five other offensive linemen this weekend and the Panthers are hoping to secure the commitments of, at least, two more. The Panthers will lose several offensive lineman after the 2022 season, including starters Carter Warren, Jake Kradel, Marcus Minor, Owen Drexel, and Gabe Houy, so they're looking to add lineman to the 2023 class.
