ALTOONA, Pa. -- Pitt entered Friday with only two commits for the class of 2023, but the Panthers' fortunes skyrocketed in a hurry when they landed six commits in less than 24 hours.

How big of a haul was it for Pat Narduzzi's team? Well, Pitt jumped more than 50 spots in the national recruiting rankings thanks to the six commits, and the 2023 class now ranks No. 20 in the nation by 247Sports. The class also ranks third among ACC schools, behind only Louisville (No. 7 nationally) and Wake Forest (No. 13).

Here's a look at the players who committed to Pitt from late Friday to Saturday.

CB SHADARIAN HARRISON (6-1, 170)

From Lakeland High School in Florida, he's a 3-star recruit who's rated as the No. 135 prospect in that talent-rich state and the No. 90 cornerback in the country by 247 Sports. He also had offers from Louisville, Nebraska, Tennessee, West Virginia, Iowa State and South Florida.

WR KENNY JOHNSON (6-1, 190)

DL ISAIAH NEAL (6-3, 265)

From St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, he's a 3-star recruit who's rated as the No. 11 prospect in the DC area and No. 73 defensive lineman in the country. He also had offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, Louisville and Syracuse.

CB SHELTON LEWIS (5-11, 180)

DE ANTONIO CAMON (6-2, 250)

CB BRICE POLLOCK (6-1, 175)

WHAT IT ALL MEANS

Pitt had a bunch of recruits on campus this weekend for official visits. And as often can be the case when visits begin, once the ball starts rolling with one or two commits, it can lead to a big haul in a short period as kids form bonds and decide to announce close together.

The Panthers had only two commits prior to this six-player haul, so they needed to start building up some numbers. To do so all in less than 24 hours makes it much more notable.

These are all solid gets for Pitt, all 3-star recruits who had received interest and offers from a whole bunch of other notable programs. You'd like to see some more 4-stars who rank a little higher nationally, but Narduzzi has done a nice job developing these kinds of players during his tenure -- leading to the notion that he's a coach who's capable of doing more with less.

We'll see in the coming days if a couple more prospects decide to commit to Pitt following this visit weekend, but landing six in one day is certainly outstanding for the Panthers.
