There were 51 players placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list throughout the NFL on Monday, with three of them members of the Kansas City Chiefs in tight end Travis Kelce, kicker Harrison Butker and cornerback Charvarius Ward.
Tuesday, the Chiefs got another blow when wide receiver Tyreek Hill also was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List.
Kelce and Hill account for 50 percent of Kansas City's pass targets and 54 percent of the team's receiving yardage this season.
Kelce is coming off his best game of the season in which he had 10 receptions for 191 yards and two touchdowns last Thursday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
He was among the first five players announced for this year's Pro Bowl and to date has accounted for 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns so far this season.
According to multiple reports, Kelce is vaccinated which means he will have to be asymptomatic and test negative once in order to play against the Steelers on Sunday.
Under the NFL's new protocol's enacted this week, vaccinated players are now tested randomly instead of weekly. But, if they are having symptoms, they are instructed to report them and submit to testing.
Butker is 22-for-25 on field goals for the season and has been an air of consistency for Kansas City. The Chiefs added kicker Elliott Fry to the roster to take Butker's place should he be unavailable for Sunday's game.
Ward has missed some time this season with a quad injury and there's been plenty of change in the Kansas City secondary which bodes well for the team moving forward if he's unable to play.
The vaccination statuses of Butker and Ward are not known. Should they be unvaccinated, they are subject to a 10-day quarantine which would rule them out of Sunday's contest against the Steelers.
The trio joins tight end Jody Fortson, wide receiver Josh Gordon, defensive tackle Chris Jones and linebacker Willie Gay on the Reserve/COVID-19 list though their statuses are also still in the air for the game as well.
