The Steelers on Saturday activated Carlos Davis from the Reserve/Injured List, putting the defensive tackle in line to play for the first time since the team's 23-16 win in Week 1 against the Bills.
The Steelers (5-5-1) also did not add anyone to their injury report by the 4 p.m. deadline meaning defensive linemen Cam Heyward and Isaiahh Loudermilk, both of whom missed practice Friday with non-COVID illnesses, are expected to play Sunday against the Ravens (8-3).
Davis, a seventh-round draft pick in 2020, played 17 defensive snaps in the regular season opener, but suffered a knee injury. He was eventually placed on Injured Reserve Oct. 27, but was designated for return and has been practicing the past three weeks.
Davis was credited with one tackle in the regular season opener. He appeared in seven games as a rookie, making six tackles, including one for a loss.
Davis' return could help bolster a defensive line that will be without nose tackle Isaiah Buggs, who was declared out for Sunday's game because of an ankle injury. Buggs has started six games at nose tackle for the Steelers this season, but was inactive for last week's 41-10 loss at Cincinnati.
The Steelers also signed defensive tackle Martavious Adams off the practice squad of the Saints and the former Packers third-round draft pick is expected to see action at nose tackle against the Ravens, as well.
"I expect to go out there and make plays for the team so we can get a win," Adams said Friday. "I feel like it's a great opportunity for me, especially for what I feel like are my strengths. The way they are using me in this defense is setting me up for success."
In addition to activating Davis, the Steelers elevated offensive tackle Chaz Green from their practice squad. Green could be needed Sunday with veteran backup offensive tackle Joe Haeg placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List earlier this week.
Earlier in the day, the Steelers activated star outside linebacker T.J. Watt off the Reserve/COVID-19 List.
