Penguins cut 13 players from camp roster, release Bartkowski taken in Buffalo, N.Y. (Penguins)

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Penguins made their third round of cuts from the training camp roster on Saturday morning, cutting 13 players to reduce the camp roster to 35 players.

Defenseman Matt Bartkowski was released from his tryout contract.

Forward Ravis Ansons, the Penguins' 2020 fifth-round pick who was injured before the start of training camp, was assigned to his junior team, the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL.

The following 11 players were assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton:

D – Cam Lee

Wilkes-Barre will open training camp on Sunday morning at the Toyota SportsPlex in Wilkes-Barre.

The Penguins divided those players into the following groups for Saturday's practice in Cranberry, with Dominik Simon and Anthony Angello being moved down to Team 2 from the previous configurations, and Sam Lafferty being moved up to Team 1.

The Penguins' next preseason game will be Sunday at noon at home against the Red Wings. It will be the annual "Free Game for Kids."
