The Seattle Kraken announced their picks on Wednesday night in a reveal show at Gas Works Park.
The Kraken submitted their picks to the league office at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, and nearly the entire roster was leaked by mid-afternoon.
As expected based on the leaks earlier in the day, Brandon Tanev was officially announced as the Kraken's selection from the Penguins' roster.
The pick frees up $3.5 million in cap space for the Penguins, in addition to the $2.9 million that was freed up by trading Jared McCann to the Maple Leafs. The Penguins now have a projected $7,446,795 in cap space for next season.
General manager Ron Hextall told our Dave Molinari last week that the Penguins are interested in re-signing unrestricted free agents Cody Ceci, Freddy Gaudreau and Evan Rodrigues.
"They certainly still in the mix here, depending on a couple of things that happen with expansion, and a couple of things that happen with our club," Hextall said. "Once we approach them, it's going to be (about the) numbers and can we fit them in our cap."
Of the Penguins' restricted free agents, Hextall all but assured that Mark Jankowski will not receive a qualifying offer. Restricted free agents Zach Aston-Reese and Radim Zohorna still need to be re-signed.
McCann, who was left exposed by Toronto the day after acquiring him from the Penguins, was also selected by the Kraken. Here are the other selections made:
