There won't be any fans or the famous rope line at Saint Vincent College, but football's about to get real around here.
The Steelers will open training camp next Thursday, July 22, with a 1:30 p.m. practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side, the team announced Friday. Camp will stay at the practice facility for six days before moving across town to Heinz Field, where a dozen sessions will be open to the public.
The full practice schedule for the South Side portion of camp wasn't disclosed.
The NFL informed the Steelers last month that they wouldn't be allowed to conduct part of camp in Latrobe, as they've traditionally, out of COVID concerns. The team then announced it would split camp in Pittsburgh, making as much of it accessible to fans as possible. All sessions will be open to media coverage.
