The Steelers are feeling good regarding the prognosis for center Maurkice Pouncey and his availability for next Sunday's game against the Browns at Heinz Field.
According to a source, tests on Pouncey's foot, which caused him to leave last Sunday's 38-29 win over the Eagles came back negative and the All-Pro center should be OK moving forward.
Pouncey left the field around the two-minute warning and immediately went to the locker room. He was replaced by J.C. Hassenauer for the final four plays.
The Steelers also remain hopeful that wide receiver Diontae Johnson will be available. Johnson took a helmet to the back in the first half against the Eagles and did not return.
That's the good news. The bad is that the Steelers (4-0) do expect to be without Pro Bowl guard David DeCastro against the Browns (4-1). DeCastro left the game against the Eagles with an abdominal injury and did not return.
Rookie Kevin Dotson replaced DeCastro at right guard, playing 54 snaps.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will give an update on the status of those three players and fullback Derek Watt and linebacker Marcus Allen, both of whom missed the game against the Eagles with injuries, Tuesday.
