Penguins-Canadiens series gets primetime slot taken on the North Shore (Penguins)

The NHL on Tuesday released the start times for qualifying round games, and the Penguins will play in the the primetime slot.

The Penguins first three games against the Canadiens -- Saturday Aug. 1, Monday Aug. 3, and  Wednesday Aug. 5 -- will all have 8 p.m. start times.

Games 4 and 5, which will be played on Aug. 7 and 8 if necessary, will have their start times announced at a later date.

Each of the two hub cities will host either 2 or 3 games per day in the opening days of the qualifying round.

The start times for the qualifying round games in Toronto will be: Noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET. The start times for the three game windows in Edmonton will be: 2 p.m. ET, 6:30 p.m. ET and 10:30 p.m. ET, and may fluctuate by up to 30 minutes during the qualifying round.

Aug. 1 will open with a 12 p.m. Rangers-Hurricanes game, 3 p.m. Blackhawks-Oilers game, 4 p.m. Panthers-Islanders game, the 8 p.m. Canadiens-Penguins game, and end with a 10:30 p.m. Jets-Flames game.

Before the qualifying round starts, each team will play one exhibition game between July 28-30. The Penguins' exhibition game will by July 28 against the Flyers.
