The Canadiens may be without forward Max Domi for the playoffs.
Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Sunday that the team has agreed with Domi on a 7-10 day waiting period before Domi must decide whether he will report to training camp and join his team for the remainder of the season.
Domi, who finished the season as the Canadiens’ No. 3 leading scorer with 17 goals and 27 assists in 71 games, is a Type 1 diabetic. Type 1 diabetes has the potential to make coronavirus complications worse if the person does contract the virus because elevated blood sugar levels weaken the immune system, making it more difficult to fight off the virus.
The Canadiens open training camp in Brossard, Quebec on Monday, and will train there until they move to the bubble in Toronto on July 26.
Canadiens defenseman Karl Alzner is already one of several players to opt out of the remainder of the season.
