The NFL has been putting the pieces in place to make the return of teams to be as safe as possible. One of those pieces was the decision to force all 32 organizations to stay at their home facility for summer training camp. For the Steelers, it means breaking a 54 year streak of them spending a month at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.
Earlier Monday, a memo was circulated to all teams regarding how they will have to emphasize things like sanitation, testing and social distancing when players return. Many wondered how a team could social distance in a locker room with a 90 man offseason roster. In Pittsburgh, heading to Heinz Field for training camp might be a solution to their problems.
Burt Lauten, direct of Public Relations for the Steelers, announced the team is making plans to hold camp at Heinz Field.
