Readers have long asked us about offering DK Pittsburgh Sports merchandise and, once we finally did so over the past week, it proved to be quite a hit with $4,538.93 in total sales!
We did not see that coming! Thank you!
The first wave of sales closed out late Saturday night, so we'll take that bulk order and get that shipment out through the manufacturer right away. My understanding is it'll still takes a couple weeks to get to you, and I'll have an update with more specific information in this space next weekend.
So, what's next on this front?
Well, we haven't figured that out, focusing our effort on this first wave. But the second wave figures to have a different version of the unique shirt that was, in this case, aimed at our Original Lunatics from 2014. A few readers have suggested a Lifetime version, and I kind of like that. Others brought up caps, coffee mugs and maybe even trying a lower-cost version of the T-shirt, so we can look into that, too. (The tees in this wave are of terrific quality, maybe more than what was needed.)
They'll all wind up in the new DK Shop.
The opening wave of stuff, if you've missed it, offers several different T-shirt designs, two different hoodie designs and a mask, all of them artistically crafted by She Who Does Everything Else Too, meaning, of course, my wife Dali Kovacevic:
Most popular item, by far, was the gray T-shirt.
Thanks again for supporting this!
NEW PODCAST SPONSOR!
Please joining us in welcoming the New Castle-based law firm of Luxenberg Garbett Kelly & George as a sponsor to my Daily Shot podcast on DK Sports Radio!
We put out a call to local businesses, and Larry Kelly from the firm, a longtime reader and a longtime writer in his own right, placed the call right back. Dali and I met with him for lunch up in Cranberry earlier this week, we had a terrific conversation -- really, felt like we'd known him forever -- and we'll hopefully be partners for years to come.
No, not these kinds of partners ...
LGKG
L-R: Sam Mack, Greg Rosatelli, Joe George, Chuck Garbett, Larry Kelly.
We've had one other firm response, from a Downtown eatery, and we hope to work that one out, as well.
There are two slots left for my show, and I promise to personally make it worth your investment, just as we pledged to Larry, so let's set up a meeting of our own by emailing me directly: DK@DKPittsburghSports.com
PODCAST RECORD
Related to this, we had 51,449 downloads over the past seven days, our biggest week yet. We were told by our podcasting agency at the outset that, if we reached 50,000 at any point, we'd be doing great. Well, we're right there, and that's without having yet started a Penguins podcast.

NEW MEDIA KIT!
We've got partnership opportunities all over the place, actually, not just the podcasts.
To that end, we've updated our Media Kit to reflect all our latest information related to how we can help boost your business. You can download it by tapping/clicking the link in the previous sentence and, please, when you do that, bear in mind that we aren't one-size-fits-all in any way. We've forged equally great relationships with huge corporations and ... well, my dude Erich Cushey down at Curtis Pharmacy, sponsor of this very feature!

APP COMING ... THIS WEEK?
We've set a tentative target to launch the new app and website ... by Monday. As in, two days from now.
Migration of content and data actually began yesterday, other finishing touches have been applied and ... oh, I'll just shut up now. You'll see it when you see it. But I'd be remiss if I didn't share at least this much.
(Fingers crossed.)
DUQUESNE'S HERE
Our reborn Duquesne coverage begins this weekend, with Noah Hiles' revealing interview with Keith Dambrot on the state of the program, the state of their new facility and all the other uncertainty facing college hoops this winter.
We're putting together a plan to allow readers to show their support for this coverage in the near future, similar to what we did last year with Pitt.
ABOUT COMMENTING
I've got plenty to say about our commenting sections of late, and I did so -- as did many readers -- in this weekend's Live Qs at 5.
BACK TO BUSINESS
• Our daily page views, averaged out over the past week, were 63,360, among our biggest totals since the pandemic hit. The general goal with this figure is to average 100,000, but that's obviously not going to be realistic for a while.
• Our most-hit original article of the past week was, not unexpectedly, Dave Molinari's coverage of the Kasperi Kapanen trade, at 18,517 views. Overall, the Penguins accounted for 104,407 page views, the Pirates 82,980, the Steelers 62,165, and Pitt 4,162.
• We're at 36,886 (+27) followers on Twitter, we're at 36,757 (+9) followers on Facebook, we're at 14,617 (-5) followers on Instagram. These figures are just for our official company account on each platform, not for us as individuals.
