The deadliest mass shooting in Canadian history occurred over the weekend when a gunman killed 19 people across several locations in the province of Nova Scotia.
Among the victims is Cole Harbour's Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Sidney Crosby, a native of Cole Harbour, issued a statement through the Sidney Crosby Foundation on Tuesday.
"I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of constable Heidi Stevenson of Cole Harbour, and to all of the families that have lost loved ones and have been affected by this terrible act.
"This tragic event has devastated communities throughout Nova Scotia, but I know we will come together and help each other get through this. I am thinking of everyone at home."
