PiratesFest is coming a little earlier than expected this year, assuming you are a season ticket holder.
The Pirates announced Thursday that PNC Park will be open for PiratesFest from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, one day before the originally scheduled date of Jan. 25. Season ticket holders will also get to enter early on Jan. 25 at 9 a.m..
For those who do not have a year-long plan, the gates will open to the general public at 11 a.m.. They originally planned to open the doors at noon.
The Pirates cited demand as the reason for the extra hours.
“The expanded event is another great added benefit to our Season Ticket Holders to allow them the opportunity to gain access to the park and enjoy the festivities in advance of our general fan base and reconnect with the team,” said Pirates president Travis Williams. “This season we will make it a priority to offer more value and experiences to our most loyal fans and PiratesFest is a perfect place to start.”
There will be autograph sessions with players, coaches and alumni throughout the two day event. Each session is limited to 150 fans, and it will cost a $20 dollar donation to Pirates Charities. Information on the autograph schedule can be found on the Pirates' website. There will also be free kid-only autographs available.
PiratesFest will also have player and executive appearances, photo opportunities in the Pirates dugout, games, and chances to meet current players. Admission is free.
The event will conclude at 5 p.m. on Jan. 25.
