Andrew Burkle, the son of Penguins co-owner Ron Burkle, was found dead in Los Angeles Monday night.
He was 27 years old.
“It is with the deepest regret and sadness that we announce the death of Andrew C. Burkle on January 6, 2020 in Beverly Hills, California,” Burkle's family said in statement provided to People.com. “He is deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.”
Per People.com, police received a call Monday night regarding an "unconscious male on the 100 block of Spalding Drive" who was later identified as Andrew Burkle.
"Andrew was known as a young man full of life and entrepreneurial energy. Everyone he met commented on his humble demeanor and hard work,” his family's statement continues.
“While the family appreciates the outpouring of love and support, they ask that the privacy of the family be respected during this difficult time. There are no further details at this time.”
Andrew and his business partner Andrew Alter ran In Good Company Films, where Burkle worked as a producer. Most recently, Burkle served as associate producer for the 2019 film Airplane Mode.

"Drew was a bright, creative, energetic young man with a dynamic future ahead of him. Everyone in our organization knows that he was such a big part of his Dad's life, and one of the many things they shared together was their love of Penguins hockey. My friend Ron knows that we are here if he needs us. Our hearts are heavy."
"I knew Drew Burkle since he was a little boy and my grief and sadness at this sudden news is hard to describe," said Penguins president and CEO David Morehouse. "I never met anyone with such a kind heart, gentle spirit and humility, all wrapped up in love and respect for his Dad. He was a young man so full of life, so full of energy. He will be missed."
