For the past few years now, the Penguins have recreated a classic Christmas movie for their annual holiday video. We thought it would be fun to revisit the videos of years past.
2014: CHRISTMAS VACATION
Most of the players who starred in this one aren't around anymore. It feels like Paul Martin has the most prominent role in this one. Highlights include Beau Bennett's scene with Robert Bortuzzo, Sidney Crosby's rant at the end, Mike Lange's role, and Jim Rutherford making an appearance:
2015: HOME ALONE
Daniel Sprong's role to open this one is ... fitting? Dan Potash making an appearance in this one is good. Evgeni Malkin is too good at his part:
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton did a reading of The Night Before Christmas this year. Oskar Sundqvist struggled, Harrison Ruopp and Reid McNeill had way too much fun with it, and Tom Kostopoulos tried hard to make the story about Penguins:
2016: ELF
Marc-Andre Fleury, Kris Letang, Patric Hornqvist, and Ian Cole are the best in this one, in my opinion:
The Nailers did a lip sync video for Christmas this year, with Ross McMullan (the one who walks in from the right in the beginning) leading the way. Fun fact: Kyle Flemington, the one in the gray cardigan in the center at a minute in, is a linesman in the NHL now:
2017: A CHRISTMAS STORY
Malkin is again hilarious in the 2017 video. Also, why does Potash always play a woman?
And here are the bloopers from 2017:
2018: HOLIDAY TRAINING
This one wasn't a movie, but an instructional video for the holidays. Phil Kessel is definitely the star:
Malkin yelling at Matt Murray and Bryan Rust in the bloopers is great.
Wilkes-Barre did a trivia video in 2018, and a few guys struggled:
They also did a reading of The Night Before Christmas, and Jimmy Hayes' accent makes everything funny:
2019: THE SANTA CLAUSE
Malkin's role was short, but great:
Which year was your favorite?
