It's been nearly a month since Sidney Crosby underwent core muscle surgery to repair a sports hernia, and the Penguins still have not announced a target date for him to return to the lineup.
Nonetheless, Mike Sullivan indicated this evening that Crosby's mindset and outlook are positive.
"He's doing great," Sullivan said. "I have talked to him. He's doing real well. He's been around the team a little bit. He's been rehabbing a lot, and he's making progress.
"He's in good spirits. He's obviously anxious to get back, but he's doing real well."
Crosby had five goals and 12 assists in 17 games before leaving the lineup because of the injury, which had been troubling him since at least training camp.
His surgery was performed Nov. 14 in Philadelphia, and it was announced at the time that he would be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks.
