CRANBERRY, Pa. -- Casey DeSmith has been named the AHL's Goaltender of the Month for the month of November, the AHL announced on Monday.

DeSmith led Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to a 7-1-0 record in eight starts in November, posting a 1.60 goals-against average, a .951 save percentage, and back-to-back shutouts on Nov. 9 and Nov. 13. That's quite the turnaround after he struggled a bit to start the season.

His last victory in November, a 5-2 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, moved DeSmith into fourth place on the Penguins' all-time goaltender wins list with 49.

DeSmith's November brings him to a 10-4 record on the season with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage.

DeSmith will receive an etched crystal award for the achievement prior to an upcoming Wilkes-Barre home game.

DeSmith is the seventh goaltender in Wilkes-Barre franchise history to win a Goaltender of the Month award, following Brad ThiessenJohn CurryJeff ZatkoffPeter ManninoEric Hartzell, and Matt Murray.
