Prospect Watch: Addison's first hat trick taken at PPG Paints Arena (Penguins)

Calen Addison had a big week offensively.

On Friday, Addison had two secondary assists in a 5-3 Lethbridge Hurricanes loss to the Prince Albert Raiders. The next night, Addison scored his first career hat trick in an 11-2 blowout of the Red Deer Rebels.

Addison's first goal was the Hurricanes' opening goal of the second period, the sixth goal of the game and a power play tally:

After the Rebels scored their first goal of the game, Addison scored his second on the man advantage to extend the lead to 7-1:

Addison scored an even strength goal early in the third period to complete the hat trick and extend the lead to 10-1:

The week brings Addison's season totals to seven goals and 19 assists in 25 games, ranking him No. 2 on the Hurricanes and in the league in points among defensemen. He's on pace for 19 goals and 49.7 assists this season. In each of the previous two seasons, he recorded identical stat lines of 11 goals and 54 assists. He's averaging 2.96 shots per game, which would be a career high for him if he can maintain this pace.

Addison's Hurricanes currently rank No. 2 in the WHL's Eastern Conference and the league, and No. 1 in the Central Division with a record of 16-7-0-3.

"His body of work has gotten stronger as the season has went on," North Dakota head coach Brad Berry said. "He's a big guy that has some poise to his game. He has a heavy game. In the third period, he hung unto a puck, drug around a guy and had a great opportunity."

Filip Hallander
