Penguins assign Blandisi, Adam Johnson to WBS taken in Cranberry, Pa. (Penguins)

Adam Johnson. -- MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

CRANBERRY, Pa. -- The Penguins have assigned forwards Adam Johnson and Joseph Blandisi to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Jim Rutherford announced on Monday.

Both players appeared in seven games during their recall and each scored one goal and one assist.

Johnson and Blandisi were both initially recalled on an emergency basis, and had their statuses changed to standard recall on Oct. 26.

Johnson is still waivers-exempt. Blandisi does require waivers, but since he already cleared waivers earlier in the season and did not play 10 games or spend 30 days on the active NHL roster as either an emergency recall or a standard recall, he does not need further waivers to be sent back down.

The amount of games a player played or days he spent on the roster are cumulative counts throughout the season, and emergency recalls and standard recalls have two separate counters, meaning a waivers-eligible player can amass 9 games and 29 days as an emergency recall then another 9 games and 29 days as a standard recall before needing waivers. Blandisi did not appear in a game since being changed to a standard recall, and spent three days on the active roster since the change. That means that if Blandisi is recalled later in the season on a standard recall, he can play nine more games and spent 26 more days on the active roster (whichever comes first) before requiring waivers again.

Johnson and Blandisi will be welcome additions to Wilkes-Barre, which is currently missing four forwards -- Thomas Di PauliBen SextonKasper Bjorkqvist, and Jamie Devane -- due to injury.
