The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins made their first cuts from training camp on Sunday.

With the depth in the system this year, some good players are on their way to Wheeling.

Forwards Christopher Brown, Jan Drozg, Brandon Hawkins, Yushiroh Hirano, Renars Krastenbergs and Myles Powell, and defensemen Macoy Erkamps, Blake Siebenaler, Craig Skudalski and Aaron Titcomb have all been assigned to the Nailers.

Of that group, only Drozg is on an NHL contract. Hirano, Krastenbergs, Siebenaler, Skudalski, and Titcomb played for the Nailers last season.

Wilkes-Barre's roster now stands at 29 players after Adam Johnson was re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre by Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Wilkes-Barre concludes its preseason schedule on Sunday with a game in Lehigh Valley against the Phantoms. They opened the preseason at home against the Phantoms, and fell 4-1 with Jordy Bellerive scoring the lone goal.

On Friday, Emil Larmi recorded a 28-save shutout and Sam Lafferty and Joseph Blandisi scored in a 2-0 home win over the Hershey Bears.

On Saturday, the Penguins traveled to Hershey and lost 2-1 in overtime to the Bears. Kasper Bjorkqvist scored the lone goal.
