UPDATE
Jordan Lyles won't miss a start after all, welcome news for the Pirates in an injury-filled season.
Lyles has received clearance from the team's medical staff Friday to start Sunday against the Brewers in the finale of the four-game series at PNC Park.
Lyles left in the fourth inning of his start Tuesday night against the Reds at Cincinnati because of left hamstring discomfort. However, he threw a bullpen Thursday and got through it unscathed.
After being examined Friday, Lyles was cleared to make what will be his 11th start of the season.
Lyles is now likely to avoid going on the injured list for the second time this year. He began the season on the IL with right side discomfort.
Lyles has proven to be a bargain after being signed to a one-year, $2.05-million contract as a free agent in December, going 5-2 with a 3.09 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He has also struck out 56 in 55 1/3 innings.
Meanwhile, Nick Kingham will get another shot at starting Saturday night against the Brewers after an improved outing Monday against the Reds. Kingham took a shutout into the fifth inning and wound up allowing three runs in 4 2/3 innings.
In his previous two starts this season, Kingham allowed nine runs in eight innings. He has also made nine relief appearances and is 1-1 with an 8.28 ERA overall in 12 games.
Clint Hurdle said Steven Brault will get another start after pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings Wednesday to beat the Reds. Brault will face the Braves next Tuesday night at PNC Park in the opener of a three-game series.
Brault gave up eight runs in 7 2/3 innings in his first two starts. Overall, including six relief appearances, he is 2-1 with a 5.87 ERA.
