Jared McCann was added to Canada's roster for the upcoming World Championship, Hockey Canada announced Wednesday.
The World Championship will take place in Slovakia from May 10 to 26.
McCann is the second Penguins player to join the Canadian roster, after Matt Murray was named to Monday's opening roster. Canada’s full roster can be found here.
McCann's addition makes nine Penguins players or prospects in the World Championship: Evgeni Malkin, Patric Hornqvist, Marcus Pettersson, Teddy Blueger, and Dominik Simon are confirmed to be playing in the main tournament, as well as prospects Jan Drozg and Yushiroh Hirano in the Division-I tournaments.
This will be McCann’s first time playing in the World Championship, and second time playing for Canada in any capacity. He previously played for Canada in the U-18 World Junior Championship in 2013, winning bronze.
