The Steelers have placed Ryan Shazier on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list for the second consecutive year.
With the move, Shazier will not count toward the Steelers' 90-man offseason roster. Shazier will still make close to $946,000 from the team this season.

The move comes in the wake of a devastating spinal injury Shazier sustained in December of 2017 vs. the Bengals. While many originally wondered if Shazier would ever walk again, he has since progressed to light jogging, weightlifting and even some of this:

While his recovery is remarkable to watch unfold, Shazier remains a long shot to ever lace up the cleats again for the Steelers. But don't tell him that. Since the injury, Shazier has remained committed to his recovery, and his goal today remains the same: Get back on the gridiron with his teammates in the black and gold.
