CINCINNATI -- The Pirates traded Aaron Slegers to the Rays on Saturday for cash considerations, two days after designating him for assignment.

The Pirates claimed the 6-foot-10 right-hander off waivers from the Twins on Jan. 11. He pitched in four exhibition games during spring training, allowing four runs and 10 hits in eight innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

Slegers, 26, made five starts and three relief appearances for the Twins over the past two seasons. He was 1-2 with a 5.90 ERA.
