The Penguins have signed forward Joseph Cramarossa to an NHL contract for the remainder of the season.
Cramarossa, 26, has been playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on an AHL-level contract since being acquired in a trade in the middle of the 2017-18 season. He is an alternate captain this season, and has scored two goals and seven assists in 35 games.
Cramarossa, a winger, leads Wilkes-Barre with two shootout goals, on two attempts. Both shootout goals were game-winners:
His 85 penalty minutes -- and five fights -- also lead the team.
Cramarossa, 6-feet and 195 pounds, was originally a third-round pick of the Ducks in 2011. He played in the NHL just two seasons ago in 2016-17, when he appeared in 49 games for the Ducks and 10 games for the Canucks following a trade.
Cramarossa will not report to Pittsburgh. He was placed on waivers at noon Wednesday, and will remain in Wilkes-Barre if he clears on Thursday at noon.
