If KDKA hadn’t broadcast a baseball game for the first time, someone else undoubtedly would have. (Indeed, there have been unsubstantiated claims that Detroit’s WWJ did just that, a year earlier in 1920).
But one must admit, it’s pretty cool that a station in Pittsburgh is almost universally acknowledged as having done it!
