DETROIT -- Opening day is on delay.
The Pirates' season opener against the Tigers, scheduled for this afternoon at Comerica Park, was postponed by rain to Friday, 1:10 p.m. The weather forecast for days had called for a 100 percent chance of rain through the afternoon and into the early evening, contrasted by a dry forecast for Friday.
The Tigers issued the following statement:
Today’s scheduled game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Comerica Park has been postponed due to inclement weather. The game has been rescheduled for Friday, March 30 with first pitch set for 1:10 PM ET. The game will be televised on @FOXSportsDet .

The Tigers announced that all tickets for the game will be honored Friday, meaning no exchange is necessary. Either that, or they can be exchanged for any future regular-season game at Comerica Park, including the rest of the weekend series.
The Pirates announced after the postponement that there will be no change to either their starting lineup or their pitching rotation. The matchup will remain Ivan Nova vs. Detroit's Jordan Zimmerman.
The team also placed reliever A.J. Schugel on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, in formally listing the 25-man roster:
Clint Hurdle will meet with reporters at 10:10 a.m. Friday.
