RICHMOND, Va. -- Honest to goodness, Nationals Park is my own personal house of horrors, as this weekend once again proved.
I drove up for Friday night’s game, hoping to watch the Pirates close the season with a bang, but instead witnessed a whimper. Not the near-comeback Thursday night, the legit comeback Saturday night, or the drubbing Sunday afternoon, but a listless near-shutout. I suppose at least some of that can be attributed to Stephen Strasburg’s fine performance. Still, the result leaves me waiting on that first win in the Navy Yard, and brings my career record to 0-8.
Oh well, Buccos, here’s to better days. And in recent history, I can scarcely think of a better day than one glorious, euphoric night in October of 2013 ...
