Sizzling Polanco reinjures left hamstring, status day to day taken in Denver (Pirates)

Gregory Polanco. - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

DENVER -- Gregory Polanco might be out for a spell with a familiar problem, having strained his left hamstring Friday night in the Pirates' 13-5 victory over the Rockies at Coors Field.

The team later announced his status as day-to-day. There was no further word after the game.

In the fourth inning, he busted down the line to avoid being doubled up at first base and succeeded, his RBI groundout bringing a 7-3 lead. But he came up lame near the end, was visited by athletic trainer Todd Tomczyk, left the field with a limp and proceeded directly down the tunnel upon reaching the dugout.

What might be most troubling about Polanco's injury is that he missed 11 days in May with a strain of the same hamstring. Moreover, he's been torrid all month: 24 for 62 for a .387 average with three home runs and six doubles.
