Steelers legendary linebacker Andy Russell died at age 82 Thursday night.
Mr. Russell was an inaugural member of the Steelers Hall of Honor in 2017. He was part of the legendary Steel Curtain defense, lining up alongside Hall of Fame linebackers Jack Ham and Jack Lambert. Mr. Russell played in seven Pro Bowls and was voted team MVP in 1971.
Mr. Russell's place in franchise history is a bit unique. From 1963-71, he played on Steelers teams that did a lot of losing. But, he also became a big part of the franchise's rise to prominence in the NFL, and ended up winning two Super Bowl rings in 1974-75.
